White Mountain Middle School

Ms Galaxy will be teaching the constellations at White Mountain Middle School using the amazing portable planetarium, Star Lab. This portable dome is used across the country to easily bring the tools used in standard planetariums to schools, museums, science centers and other public locations.

Ms Galaxy will be teaching five classes in a row, focusing on naked eye identification of constellations and easily visible naked eye objects such as the Orion Nebula and the Andromeda Galaxy. While closed to the public for this event, a public event will be held later in the month at North Mountain Park in Ashland, Oregon.

North Mountain Park Astronomy Class and Star Party

Have you always wished to know more about the night sky? You may know Orion, but what about the Great Orion Nebula? Join Jessica Vineyard, aka Ms. Galaxy, for a fun, entertaining and easy-to-follow romp across the nighttime winter sky. Learn about the constellations and planets visible this time of year, some telescopic wonders like globular clusters, planetary nebulae and galaxies, and come away with a deeper appreciation of our universe.

If the sky is clear we will head outside after class with telescopes and enjoy real-time observing. Please bring layered, very warm outdoor clothing, including gloves and a hat, and lots of enthusiasm!

Class size is limited, so be sure to register early.
